Trouble falling asleep?
Are you struggling to fall asleep, despite feeling extremely exhausted? You’ve had a long day, your body feels drained, and yet as soon as your head hits the pillow you seem to be wide awake. This cycle can leave you feeling anxious and even more tired the following day. One simple, yet effective solution is enjoying what I like to call “The Sleepy Girl” mocktail, that will hopefully ease you into a restful slumber or at least calm your mind before bed.
In this article, we will go through each ingredient and its benefits to help you sleep. Stick around for the recipe at the end.

1. Tart Cherry Juice
Studies suggest that pure tart cherry juice can support longer, more restful sleep. It’s naturally rich in melatonin, the hormone that signals your body it’s time to wind down. It also contains tryptophan, an amino acid that helps boost both melatonin and serotonin levels, which are key players in regulating your sleep-wake cycle. Plus, tart cherry juice has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce stress and promote relaxation.

2. Prebiotic Soda
Even though prebiotic soda does not have any sleeping benefits, it can still play a beneficial role in your nighttime routine. Prebiotics support gut health by feeding the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system, which may improve overall digestion and reduce bloating making it easier to get comfortable and fall asleep. Additionally, it will cut back some of the tartness from the cherry juice. For best results, I recommend a lemon-lime Poppi or Olipop.

3. Kin Dream Light
Kin Dream Light is a non-alcoholic beverage infused with adaptogens, nootropics, and botanics like reishi mushroom, melatonin, and l-tryptophan (natural stress reducers). These ingredients are known for their natural stress-reducing properties and ability to promote relaxation. Dream Light serves as a soothing alternative to a traditional nightcap, helping to ease symptoms of stress and anxiety, making it a perfect addition to any sleep-supporting mocktail.

4. L-Theanine
L-theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in green tea leaves, widely known for its calming effects on the mind and body. While it won’t necessarily make you fall asleep faster on its own, it helps reduce anxiety, ease mental tension, and promote relaxation—all of which contribute to deeper, more restful sleep with fewer interruptions.
My go-to is MaryRuth’s L-Theanine drops, because they’re easy to use and have a subtle lemon-lime flavor that blends well into any nighttime drink.

5. Calm Magnesium Powder
Magnesium is often referred to as the body’s natural “chill pill”—and for good reason. It plays a key role in regulating GABA, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation by calming nerve activity in the brain. In addition to supporting a more peaceful mind, magnesium also helps relax your muscles, making it easier for your body to unwind and prepare for sleep.
My favorite way to incorporate it is with the Calm Raspberry-Lemon Magnesium Supplement—it not only delivers the benefits but also adds a pleasant fruity flavor to the mocktail.
